F1 GP MONACO F1 2023 MONACO GP FP3 FINAL TIMES:
F1 GP Monaco | Final 3 of Free PracticeEnd of the third practice session of the 2023 Formula 1 Monaco GP. Verstappen leads Free Practice 3 with just 73 thousandths of a margin over ‘Checo’ Pérez. Stroll (Aston Martin) third at 0″166. Sainz, fourth at 0″485. Norris, 5th, Gasly, 6th and Leclerc 7th at 0″699. Hamilton crashed into the wall at the end and 8th at 0″710. And Alonso? 14th… but not representative as he did not set a representative time late in the session due to a yellow flag and a final red flag which prevented him from improving and properly testing important set-up changes which he did in his car.
13:28F1 GP Monaco | Inappropriate red flag for Hamilton… Fernando Alonso was 14th as he was unable to set his time in this final section after changing his settings. But don’t panic. Aston Martin is going well as his team-mate Stroll is third with a second set record and just 0″166 behind Verstappen’s best time. Aston Martin should be in contention for pole position.
F1 GP Monaco | Accident in Hamilton!Lewis Hamilton oversteered and crashed into the wall. His car was stuck with the front wing sticking to the lower part of the guards. RED FLAG. The session will be terminated and will not be resumed.
F1 GP Monaco | Exercise 3They removed Magnussen’s car. Green flag with 6 and a half minutes to go. We will see if Fernando Alonso has options to improve his time and give a good lap with tires at the right temperature to make possible the most representatives to test this important change in settings.
F1 GP Monaco | Yellow flag at a bad timeAlonso has the record in the first sector with 18″950. It’s time to push and assess whether the change in set-up has been good. But with 10 minutes left, this yellow flag makes that validation difficult.
F1 GP Monaco | Free 3TROUBLE FOR MAGNUSSEN! “I have no power,” he said over the radio. They asked him to stop the car. He stopped it at the curve before the entrance to the tunnel. This will prevent Fernando Alonso from improving his time.
F1 GP Monaco | Free 3There are 10 minutes left in the third practice for the Monaco F1 GP. Times are not getting better. It should be noted that the track conditions will be different at 4:00 pm, when the classification is contested.
F1 GP Monaco | Exercise 3Alonso had to make a correction to avoid the wall at Santa Devota. Magnussen goes through the hole in that corner and brings out the caution in the first sector.
F1 GP Monaco | alonsoLet’s not forget that in Miami Alonso tried the more extreme settings in free practice and then in qualifying he went back to something more standard and was again among the best. Perhaps he will repeat that work in search of maximizing his options. To maximize the settings, it’s important to find the limit of the car’s usage window with set-up changes and when something doesn’t work, go back and make sure it’s the right setting.
F1 GP Monaco | Alonso on trackFernando Alonso, on track after his crucial set-up change. There are 15 minutes left for the end of the session. Alonso starts his turn but his first sector is not very good, 19″5 for the man from Oviedo. Now checking the changes in that set-up. If it doesn’t work, he has to go back to changing the set -up that.. Or maybe now he’s just checking them out to get more emphasis on his next turns.
F1 GP Monaco | SainzSainz, now rolled on his sixth tire lap. Let’s see if in these last minutes we will see new tires to prepare for qualifying or maybe they reserved it for them.
F1 GP Monaco | alonso17 minutes before the end of the session. Fernando Alonso’s car is still in the pits. The mechanics are finishing making changes to the car from Oviedo. The crashes have changed and this is a very important change, something that makes it clear that the Spaniard is sure there is room for improvement in the settings or maybe he wants to test it before qualifying.
F1 GP Monaco | alonsoChanges to the set-up in Fernando Alonso’s car, to the stiffness of the rear suspension. Finalizing details on Fernando’s car to find the best balance in these final moments of practice before a classification that in Monaco is worth more than a pole position. Pole position in Monaco is more than half a win.
They also worked on the heights and stiffness changes of the rear suspension on Checo Pérez’s car. The Mexican is still not comfortable with his Red Bull in the Principality.
F1 GP MonacoVerstappen leads the time table with 1’12″776, edging out Pérez by 0″073. Sainz was third at 0″603 and Leclerc, fourth at 0″699
