The final day of Bundesliga 2 was miraculous, brutal and dramatic in the fight for promotion. Heidenheim managed to climb to the Bundesliga for the first time in its history thanks to an incredible comeback at the buzzer against Jahn Regensburg (2-3) as Hamburg celebrated its return to the top German competition.
Hamburg beat Sandhausen (0-1), they needed Heidenheim not to win (they were losing 2-1 at the time, in the 94th minute) and the players are already celebrating their promotion on the pitch. However, two stoppage-time goals from Heidenheim went down.
The magic of football was expensive this time for the average team and left Hamburg with a stick in the nose, which fell out of promotion and will have to fight for promotion against Stuttgart, which finished third from last in the Bundesliga.
