Real Zaragoza’s sports director Juan Carlos Cordero indicated that for next season he needs to make a squad that is “exciting” and build a “competitive” team to be “with the best” but he never will talk about the promotion. , despite being the club’s eleventh consecutive season in the Second Division.

“The first thing is to get fifty points as soon as possible, then be in the play-offs and, if we are close, fight for direct promotion,” he added at a press conference.

The head of Zaragoza pointed out that the last part of the last season left a “good taste in the mouth” and it is the most similar to what he likes and wants from his teams in the Second Division.

Cordero advanced that many new players will come in many demarcations and he wants to have players and for several years. In this regard, he added that he wants to have players with different profiles and competitive in different areas of the field, according to the coach, but he will not rush to sign contracts.

However, he explained that he also had to release those who did not count, although he knew that no player could be forced to leave, so it was necessary to have agreements to terminate contracts.

“You have to be careful in each case. I will not stay with the squad I have, I’m going to try to improve it in each position”, he assured.

Cordero stated that the club did not convey to him the need to sell any players to balance the accounts at the end of the season.

Regarding the salary cap, he explained that it is not a fixed issue and that it is evolving: “they are looking to increase it to have a better team. Now it is careful and the club is looking for resources to improve this.”
