Cruel farewell to Rublev, another street favorite at Roland Garros

At the age of 27, the man from Turin reached the round of 16 for the third time in his career at a major, the second at Roland Garros after 2020, when he was beaten by the Argentine Diego Schwarzman.

The Italian will be gunning for fourth place, which would be his ceiling at a Grand Slam, against the Russian Karen Khachanov, who beat the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis by 6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(5).

Rublev He arrives at this edition of Roland Garros with good feelings, heading for his third round of 16 in the last three editions, after winning his first Masters 1,000 on clay in Monte Carlo and playing in the final in Banja Luka a few days later.

But he shows again that, mentally, he has a lot of progress to make, because he gives up the initiative of a duel that is on his way to give defeat.
