Trouble in France! A fan attacks a player in the middle of a match

The match between Girondins Bordeaux and Rodez, of the thirty-eighth and final day of the French Ligue 2, was suspended tonight after a radical fan attacked a player from the visiting team, Lucas Buades, twenty three minutes into the game.

Next, a Girondins supporter jumped onto the pitch and attacked Lucas Buades, who was celebrating a goal and fell onto the pitch. The referee interrupted the game and sent both teams to the locker room. The footballer was treated by the medical services of the stadium and taken to the hospital, according to some media, with a concussion.

Le Havre rose in the midst of chaos

The representatives of the two clubs along with the referee chose to suspend the decisive match for the cause of both. Girondins are third in the standings with 69 points and could miss out on promotion. Le Havre, champions with 75, are now in Ligue 1 after a 14-year absence and second is Metz with 72.

Meanwhile, Rodez marked the relegation zone, fourth from bottom, two points behind Annecy, sixteenth, at the expense of what will happen in this match. With success, Rodez will achieve permanence.

“Looking at what happened and the situation that was created when a spectator entered the pitch and attacked a Rodez player, who had to be examined by the doctor of his club and also by the emergency room, it was found that the player of football cannot continue the game and suffered a concussion so, according to the delegates and the French Professional League, we respect the regulations and the game will not continue,” announced the referee of the match, Nicolas Rainville.

The situation and result of the match is now in the hands of the Disciplinary Commission. Defeat would leave Bordeaux out of promotion to Ligue 1.
