David Puig, the fifth Spaniard to qualify for the US Open.

The Catalan David Puig is the fifth and last classified for US Open, third Grand Slam which will be held from June 15 to 18 at los angeles country club, in the heart of Beverly Hills. Puig is the last of our team to qualify after a great performance this past early morning in the previous one held at Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles.

Puig delivered two cards of 69 and 64 shots and finished with a total of -10, tying for second place. A total of 89 golfers played and only five spots were distributed.

Along with Puig, the Mexican Omar Morales, the English amateur Barclay Brown, the veteran Charley Hoffmann, one of the best amateurs in the United States, Preston Summerhays, a golfer from Arizona State who signed card of 62 strokes in the second round, and Josh Anderson.

In this way, Puig became the 68th Spaniard to play a ‘major’ throughout history, since Ángel de la Torre was the pioneer at the British Open in 1920. The other four were Alexander the Kingalso in a preview, as well Sergio Garcia, Jon Rahm (champion in 2021) and Pablo Larrazabalaccording to world ranking.
