The fans won the match and UD Las Palmas renewed Pimienta

Fan pressure this Wednesday to end the soap opera in the Canary Islands helped renew the Catalan coach Francesc Xavier García Pimienta. An agreement was made with UD Las Palmas for one season, so he will continue to lead the team in the club’s return from Gran Canaria to the First Division, a category where he debuted as a technician.

UD Las Palmas announced that the agreement for García Pimienta to continue with the team has been closed this afternoon, in a meeting between the coach and the president, Miguel Angel Ramirez. There is one detail: the agreement was between García Pimienta and Ramírez, one of the conditions of the owner of the yellow team. Ramírez wanted to hold lunch in person and close the deal in minutes. García Pimienta maintained that these questions were a matter for his representative.

However, according to sources from the club, negotiations became complicated this week due to economic differences between what the representative coach is demanding and what the entity is willing to deal with.

Francisco Javier García Pimienta joined the yellow discipline in January 2022 and his first match on the bench in charge of UD Las Palmas was against Real Sociedad B, on January 30 of that year.

In this season of 2022-23, García Pimienta fulfilled the goal set by UD Las Palmas to climb to the highest category, something he achieved by getting direct promotion after add 18 wins and 18 draws and that yields just six losses along with the course.

The Catalan coach also made UD Las Palmas the best visiting team in LaLiga SmartBank.

Throughout the 42 days he put the first team in direct promotion on 32 occasions (of which 16 remained as leader) and on another nine days, in play-off positions.

Before the end of the season, Ramírez publicly offered García Pimienta a renewal and the coach expressed his desire to continue leading the team.
