Alonso, not in Q3 in Miami qualifying

Date:

Fernando Alonso hopes to get a good result in qualifying for the F1 Miami GP. He said he felt hopeful after finishing fifth in Free Practice 2 on Friday. And after being fourth in recent practice, Fernando finished out in Q3 by just 32 thousandths in a very tight middle zone.

In a classification marked by track evolution, doing a good lap at the end of each session is key. Fernando Alonso failed to get the best last lap and finally fell only to the top ten, in eleventh position, behind Gasly, who was 10th.

The Asturian driver will have to face another difficult race in Miami, as the question is whether he will finally be able to overtake the race. That’s the goal of the designers of this track, with up to 3 DRS zones and three clear overtaking points. But how green the track is once you leave the clean line, there’s a lot of doubt in relation to braking outside the right line to get racing positions.

The other question is on the speed of Alpine racing. The French team on Friday focused on finding solutions to the major damage they experienced at the start of the campaign, their primary Achilles heel. On a rough and hot track, Alpine should suffer this Sunday. The points are complicated, though in Miami, with a high probability of security vehicles appearing, Fernando will try to fish in a turbulent river.
