The first surprise of the Roma tournament came at the hands of Krajinovic, number 52 in the world, in the first match of the men’s main draw. The Serbian dropped Tiafoe, number 25 in the ranking and favorite to pass the round, in the first change.
After more than two hours of fighting between the two, Krajinovic insisted on his powerful punches and recovered from American dropshots that, despite the good game, were a bit more irregular in the fight.
Rublev awaits him in the second roundseeded sixth in the tournament.
In the women’s category, the main draw will begin this Monday. Nuria Párrizas and Cristina Bucsa were not presentwho fell in their respective battles, corresponding to the latter part of the qualifying phase.
