Beckham stands up for Cristiano Ronaldo

Ang Man Utd faced important changes after another disappointing season in which they did not qualify for the Champions League, but david beckham wait on Cristiano Ronaldo stay at least a year.

United’s 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend means they can’t finish higher in the sixth. The Old Trafford club have appointed Ajax Amsterdam manager Erik ten Hag to replace caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick from the end of the current campaign, where the Dutchman is expected to renew the squad in the pre-season.

Ronaldo has scored 24 goals in all competitions in this campaign and Beckham, who also wears United’s number seven shirt, is hoping the 37-year-old forward will stay. “It’s important to him, we all know how important United is to him. He keeps doing the best he can,” Beckham told Sky Sports at the Miami Grand Prix. “To be doing what he’s doing at his age is really amazing, so I hope he continue for another year or two.”

Beckham, who has won six Premier League titles with United, said fans have stood by him through some difficult times, including United’s last league title in the 2012-13 season.

“It’s been a tough end to the season. But it’s the end of the season I’m sure a lot of fans are thankful because it’s been tough, full of ups and downs,” he said. “The players did their best, as did the manager. I showed up at the stadium a few months ago and all the seats were full, so the fans still believe and support the team.”

“This is what United fans do. There aren’t many teams that have gone through what they’ve been through in recent years and are still packing up their stadium. There will be changes.”
