He Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeidareiterated this Tuesday his optimism regarding the possibility of having a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Madrid, and said that it would be an “urban circuit” in the “environment” of Ifema, so he guaranteed “dialogue” with the neighbors and the necessary measures to reduce disturbances.
“We are optimistic. We think we have certain and real possibilities that Formula 1 can come to Madrid”, Almeida said about the “great sporting event” that will have a “great effect” for the city in terms of image abroad and “economic recovery”.
Speaking to the press before attending the Closing of the 2023 General Assembly of the Madrid Business Confederation (CEIM-CEOE)the mayor recalls: “We have been working, through Ifema, for the past few months on this project, and we hope and trust that Madrid can have that Grand Prix”.
Almeida confirmed that it will be an “urban circuit” in the “vicinity” of Ifema.
“Obviously, with respect to the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods, we will take all the measures necessary to minimize the inconvenience or inconvenience that may arise as a result of holding a Formula 1 Grand Prix”, the popular councilor added.
In this way, he wants to deliver a “message of calm” and a “guarantee” to residents that the City Council is “there” and “talking” to them.
“Formula 1 is very important for Madrid, but the rest and tranquility of the neighbors should also count,” said the mayor.
The Ifema fairgrounds are located at Corralejos neighborhoodwithin Barajas district.
