Osasuna’s response to learning of the UEFA inspectors’ recommendation was short-lived. The Navarrese club does not share UEFA’s criteria and will appeal to the Appeals Committee.
“Strong to the weak and weak to the strong, the UEFA courts do not want to consider that the Spanish courts themselves have literally declared that Osasuna has been the victim of money transfers made by some of its former .directors behind the highest governing body of the entity, the Assembly, and the control mechanisms of the club itself”, indicates a note from the Navarrese club.
The rojilla entity understands that “with this decision, UEFA intends to punish Osasuna again in the form of its current managers, who are themselves the ones who filed the complaint in court, starting the legal procedure to recover the money that was illegally stolen from the accounts of the entity and restore its good name. We are perhaps facing the only known case in the recent history of European football where a club is legally prosecuting some of its former managers, who are currently awaiting prison terms” .
In Osasuna’s opinion, the message sent by UEFA is counterproductive for football and for the entities that, faced with the risk of being punished from the sport, now choose not to attack corruption in football directly: “For those who do not know the depth of the case, and are unable to separate the events that took place in the 2013-2014 season from what is currently happening, the damage to the image of the entity is very serious.”

“A damage -says the note – that also occurred in the silence of the main Spanish football organizations, including the RFEF. In the last few weeks, we have witnessed the continuous leakage of self-interest, at a national level, in several media outlets and journalists to build a story that sacrificed the weak to favor the strong. The releases that already on the 7th, the day Osasuna learned of the start of the investigation, surely ensured the end of the whole process it was the expulsion of the Rojillo club from European competitions.
The crimson rectors emphasized that “Osasuna does not give up. We will defend our rights and the rights of our fans with the same passion that they cheer us on every weekend, with the same effort that our players and coaching staff deserve to earn their place in the next Conference edition. We believe so much in what we do, and in how we do it, that we cannot allow Club Atlético Osasuna to use, with the consent of those who in 2014 looked the other way, to solve problems others”.
