Ertzainas will protest this Thursday 29 in Bilbao during the presentation of the Tour de France teamsafter still not receiving a call from the Basque Department of Security to negotiate the renewal of the autonomous police agreement.
Several hundred ertzainas took action again this Tuesday in Vitoria, responding to the joint appeal of the unions and the Ertzainas en Lucha collective.
Last Friday there was a short and unsuccessful meeting of the negotiation table for working conditions in the Ertzaintzawhere the unions rose from the meeting considering that there was no decent offer, and the two parties exchanged accusations.
Since then there have been no more calls from the Basque Government to the unions, as explained on Tuesday by the general secretary of Erne, Sergio Gómez de Segura.
So, this Thursday afternoon, at the presentation of the Tour teams in Bilbao, ertzainas will gather or demonstratebecause they have not yet decided which protest they will choose.
The unionist did not want to comment on whether the celebration of the Tour – which starts on Saturday in Bilbao – is in danger because of the protests of the ertzaina: “We don’t want to put ourselves in that situation. After years of cuts, I think there needs to be an agreement“.
