The American Brooks Koepkarecent champion of PGA Championshiplaunched a brutal accusation against his countryman Matthew Wolff24 years old and his partner break of LIV Golf. “Basically, I’ve given up on him,” Koepka said Sports Illustrated. Wolff has finished outside the top-30 in his last five tournaments, with 48 golfers competing, including one withdrawal.
“I mean, when you give up on your lap, you give up and stuff like that, that’s not a career, I don’t want all that. You are not working hard. It’s very difficult to have a team dynamic when you have a guy who doesn’t work, someone who won’t put in any effort, leaves the field, breaks sticks, gets discouraged, has bad body language. It’s very difficult,” Koepka said, referring to Wolff.
“He has a lot of talent, but the talent is wasted,” added the American. Wolff won the Jack Nicklaus Award as the best player in the country in his second year at oklahoma state in 2019, he turned professional and won his third tournament in PGA Tour within 3M Tomorrow. Within US Open 2020 he has the title on track Winged Feetbut he made 75 strokes on the final day and finished second behind Bryson DeChambeau.
However, Wolff began to struggle and then took two months off in 2021 to work on mental health issues. He signed a year later with LIV Golf, the millionaire super league funded by Saudi Arabia.
Wolff left before the final round of the LIV event outside of Washington last month with an undisclosed injury. It was partially removed from Smash’s social media pages. Currently, it occupies the No. 25 in sorting points.
Asked by Sports Illustrated if he wanted to be on another team, Wolff stared, shook his head and walked away. LIV Golf is coming this week to London.
