Megan Rapinoe, one of the best soccer players in the world, has announced that she will hang up her boots at the end of this season. The 38-year-old North American midfielder announced the decision to retire on his social networks days before heading to the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
“It is with a deep sense of peace and gratitude that I have decided that this will be my last season playing this beautiful game. I can’t imagine the ways soccer will shape and change my life forever, but looking at the my face he knows about this girl all the time,” the two-time world champion in the United States announced on his Twitter account.
This is the fourth and last World Cup for the charismatic footballer, who has been a member of OL Reign for 10 years after going through Chicago Red Stars, Philadelphia Independence, Seattle Sounders, Syndey or Lyon and others.
“I feel very grateful to be here and to have the confidence of this team and that my body has lasted so long to do this,” said the player in a press conference.
