The FIFA was contacted in the last few hours that the FIFA Council lifted the suspension of Zimbabwe Football Federation (ZIFA) with immediate effect. This means that, with immediate effect, it will revoke all ZIFA membership rights and representative teams and clubs will be able to participate in international competitions again.
It also means that ZIFA members and officials can benefit from development programs, courses and training provided by FIFA or CAF, the African association to which it belongs. In addition, FIFA member associations will be able to re-enter sporting contact with ZIFA and its teams.
This means FIFA has lifted the ban it imposed on February 22, 2022 as a result of government interference, as determined at the time by the world’s highest football body. It is common for FIFA to suspend federations due to the interference of national governments, which it later removes when it verifies that it has stopped enforcing.
