Carlos Alcaraz touched the skies this Sunday in London. The Murcian was crowned Wimbledon champion after an epic final against Novak Djokovic. A victory that he said he was very proud of and for him it was a “dream come true” and even though he lost he was “very proud” of myself.
“It’s a dream come true. It’s nice to win, but even if I lose I would be very proud of myself.for making history in this tournament against a legend of our sport”, said the Murcian in the winner’s speech.
“At the age of 20 I never expected to be in this situation and I’m very proud of myself” assured the world number 1, who also explained that “in the end I said to myself that I have to raise the level, I want to congratulate Novak on how amazing he is. I grew up watching you play, you win the tournament since I was born and your inspiration is example”.
Finally, Alcaraz wanted to remember King Felipe VI. “It’s very special to have the King of Spain here. I’m proud to have you here supporting me. I’ve won the two times you’ve visited me so I hope it happens again,” he concluded.
