British pilot Cal Crutchlow will participate as a “wild card” (guest driver) in Japanese Grand Prixfourteenth test of MotoGP World Championship 2023 which will be held at the Motegi “Twin Ring” circuit, on the handlebars of a Yamaha YZR-M1, on the weekend of September 29 to October 1.
As Yamaha’s official test rider, Cal Crutchlow is well placed to complete his first experience as Yamaha’s “wild card”, after competing in ten Grands Prix between 2021 and 2022 as a substitute rider.
Yamaha’s intention is for Crutchlow to work on parts testing for future MotoGP prototypes, lining up alongside fellow Yamaha MotoGP riders Fabio Quartararo of France and Franco Morbidelli of Italy.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to race at Motegi with Yamaha as an official tester. and thus do everything possible to help build the M1″, explained Cal Crutchlow in the press release.
“The race in Japan is a good opportunity to tryalthough we will start with some tests in August and we will try to collect as much important information for Yamaha as possible,” said the British rider.
