The young Spanish promise of the national march Sofia Santacreu17 years old, won this Wednesday the first medal for Spain in Under-20 Europeanswhich was disputed in Jerusalem, by winning the race of 10 kilometerswhere he also broke the national under-18 record.
The Barcelona athlete prevailed in the race with time 45:59.76 and precedes Italian Giulia Gabriele (46:56.73) and the French Ana Delahaie (47:11.09).
A year after being crowned European under-18 champion of the 5,000 march, on the exact same track, Santacreu won a new continental title on Wednesday.
The medalist declared that he found his rhythm in the last 5 kilometers, and was surprised by the impact of his victory. “The truth is, I didn’t expect that much support in the schedule, but the truth is, I feel super-clothed,” he commented after the win.
Santacreu stated that he feels satisfied with the fruits of his work this season, and that he will continue to “practice, enjoy and see where it goes.” In the same test, Griselda Seret finished seventh with 48:13.88.
