Frenchman Laurence, world sub-23 gold and meritorious 8th place for Spanish Romeo

The French axel laurence hung brilliantly this saturday gold in the sub-23 category of the long-distance road test of Glasgow Cycling World Championshipsby winning alone after launching a final attack 27 kilometers from the finish in the leading group.

Next to the Frenchman, two seconds behind, the Portuguese Antonio Morgado and the Slovakian Martin Svrcek, occupying the second and third positions, respectively, as they are the best of the quintet chasing him with the British Jack Rootkin-Gray, the Italian Lorenzo Milesi and the German Moritz Kretschy.

The best Spaniard was Ivan Romeo in a highly creditable eighth place at 1:01 minutes.

The 168.4 kilometers between Loch Lomond and the Glasgow circuit requiring eight laps was completed by Axel Laurance in 4:04:58 at an average of 41.246 km/h.
