Abdominal injury caused Andy Murray to miss Cincinnati

Murray, 36, withdrew from the Toronto Masters 1000 last week before his round of 16 match against the champions. Jannik Sinner due to illness he suffered after spending nearly five hours on the track during his two wins Lorenzo Sonego and Max Purcell.

The three-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one traveled to Cincinnati, where she hopes to be fit in time to face Russian Karen Khachanov, but will now be replaced by a qualy, the ATP announced.

Murray is currently world number 36 – his highest ranking since hip surgery in 2019 – and has been selected to play with the British Davis Cup team in their qualifiers in the group stage of the Finals which will take place after the US Open (August 28 to September 10).
