MotoGp has announced that a major remodeling will take place at the Losail International Circuit, preventing it from being the opening round of the 2023 world championship.
The Paddock will be the main center where the activities will take place, which they say means an improvement “for all competitors and visitors to the venue, from drivers and teams to fans and visitors.” New viewer areas will be added to existing ones, which will remain the same.
Work will begin in 2022 to try to become “the most important motorsport area in the Middle East, further confirming its status as one of the best competitive equipment in the world” according to MotoGP.
Adjusting the circuit will make it impossible for it to be the first Grand Prix of the year. Since 2007, Qatar has started new MotoGP seasons as the first round of the year. While in 2023 it will be strange not to see it at the start, the track with 3,600 spotlights will be part of the final races that will close out the world championship. Careers in the Middle East are guaranteed until 2031.
