The Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista will not participate in the US Open due to an ankle injuryannounced this Friday the organization of the last Grand Slam of the year.
world number 37Bautista has not competed since July due to that injury and will be replaced by Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki in the main draw of the US Open, which begins on August 28.
Although he will not travel to New York for this tournament where his countryman Carlos Alcaraz is the reigning champion, Bautista is part of the Spanish team list for the group stage of the Davis Cup finals which will be held from 12 to 17 September in Valencia (Spain).
David Ferrer, making his debut as Spain captain, called up Bautista along with Alcaraz, Alejandro Davidovich and Marcel Granollers while waiting for a fifth player to be decided later.
