Maximum penalty for Albacete on Butarque

Date:

Two goals from the eleven meters, one in the first half and another in the second, allowed Leganés to survive a week without the long-awaited and necessary “nine” they hoped to sign before the close of the market and beat the Albacete at home (2- 0).

In the beginning, analytics prevailed over impetus. They are both focused on trying to understand each other, a reflection of what goes on in the heads of two closely related coaches who have known each other for a long time. However, some conclusions must have been drawn by the two teams, as they could not find a way to hurt each other.

In fact, it was necessary for the visiting team to draw blood itself to break the tie. It happened when ‘Momo’ Djetei handled the ball with his hand inside the area in his eagerness to trouble Diego García with his attempt to finish after a lateral cross from Allan Nyom.

The signaling of the maximum penalty woke the fans from their lethargy and the execution of Dani Raba, à la ‘Panenka’, made them rise from their seats to applaud. They did it and the blue and white team, who tried to increase the profit immediately after a shot from Sergio González’s cross went close to the right post and another shot over the crossbar from Naim García.

There was little more until the break, with a serious Leganés focused on going to the locker room and an Albacete condemned to row against the current again as happened when Espanyol and Amorebieta also took the lead the two previous days.

At the dawn of the second half, Raba returned the flashes, first with a shot from the edge that narrowly missed and then with a good delivery to Diego García, who hit it from a heel position to the edge of the net.

Despite this, the forward did not lower his arms, always generous in his efforts, and shortly afterwards he finished drawing a similar movement on the right side to fight off a long ball from Nyom. Paired with Juan Antonio Ros, the latter failed to clear, and in his eagerness to correct, he caught the opponent in the area. Second penalty of the night, without Raba on the field, Diego García himself took the same feat.

From the new blow the Albacete side rose with pride, Escriche caressed the goal with a shot that whistled near the base of the post that was defended by Dani Jiménez until the goalkeeper had to leave the field injured leaving his place to Diego Conde.

His teammate also fulfilled his position, leaving a good stop below before seeing how he was saved by the crossbar after Escriche’s subsequent shot; and in this way Leganés’ second consecutive victory, first at home, was confirmed. Albacete, for its part, continues without a win.
