Sparks fly between Hamilton and Verstappen: “Maybe he’s jealous, you can shout…”

Date:

A few days ago, Verstappen responded contrary to Hamilton’s words about how little emotion there is currently in the fight for victory because of the superiority of Max Verstappen in his Red Bull. And today, in the Italian GP,a it is this that the two great enemies of the remembered 2021 World Cup will fly. Lewis Hamilton, when asked about Verstappen’s dominance, recalled that his teammates have always been stronger than Max in his career, as is the current case of ‘Checo’ Pérez, whom the Dutchman has clearly surpassed from in Miami. The Dutchman’s response was immediate. The two-time world champion is powerful.

What Hamilton said about Max’s colleagues

“We’ve seen it throughout history,” Hamilton said. I am not more impressed than when Michael (Schumacher) was leading, when Sebastian (Vettel) was leading, when Kimi (Raikkonen) was driving, when Fernando (Alonso) was winning… the same. I mean, I think the team as a whole is one of the strongest: they are firing on all cylinders at the moment,” said Lewis at Monza of Verstappen.

“The car is fantastic, the driver is doing a fantastic job, very consistent, the pit crew is doing a great job, the mechanics are doing a great job, the approach is doing a great job, it’s on point, I can’t criticize them”, added Lewis, who put his finger on the sore point of difference between Verstappen and his teammate Pérez on the track: “In my opinion, Valtteri, and really all my teammates, are stronger than Max’s teammates are. Jenson (Button), Fernando (Alonso), George (Russell), Valtteri (Bottas), Nico (Rosberg)… I’ve had a lot. They’ve all been very consistent and Max has never competed with anyone like that.”

Verstappen’s response to Hamilton

“Maybe I’m a little jealous of my current success,” commented Max Verstappen at the Italian track about Lewis Hamilton’s words.

“This kind of statement… you might think you’re getting something here, but I don’t care. I think Mercedes is having a hard time dealing with losing after all these years of winning so much,” added current World Cup leader, going for its third consecutive crown.

“At some point you have to be realistic and then you have to be able to appreciate what other teams are doing. We did the same thing when they were dominating and we also said: ‘We have to work harder because we are not good enough. .You can scream and shout that what we do is not very special… you just have to deal with yourself”, he finished with an obvious ‘dart’ towards Hamilton.
