We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what happens in the first two days of women’s football. At four o’clock in the afternoon, the women’s professional league and the unions were summoned by the women’s collective agreement and the strike call for the first two days of the women’s league that will begin this coming Friday.
This is the first time since last July 7 that negotiations between the professional women’s league and unions have been paralyzed. (AFE, FUTPRO, Footballers ON, UGT AND CCOO).
At the same time, they agreed to postpone the final decision on the strike call until tomorrow. Because it is certain for tomorrow when, according to the law and after the strike call on Friday, the parties are summoned to the mediation act before the CHASM. And this is after they expect a proposal from the League on the salary of the future collective agreement of women. What comes out of this act of mediation is where, depending on what might be on the table, the unions decide to call off or continue the strike.
The league withdrew its proposal on July 7 ahead of the new revenue scenario
At the last meeting between the parties on July 7, the employer withdrew the offer that was then on the table after days before the CSD forced to assign 20% of commercial income to RFEF in addition to consulting the federative estate on possible Sponsorship agreements.
Until then, the union’s proposal is based on a salary of 20,000 euros for this 2022-2023 campaign (the agreement will be retroactive); up to 25,000 euros for the 2023-2024 season and a third year of the agreement for the 2024-2025 season with a minimum salary of 30,000 euros.
Some numbers that are very far from those presented until then by the employer based on the reduction of the duration of the agreement of the initial proposal from five to four years; in addition to an increase in the initial amount of 16,000 euros that they will reach in the last year of the agreement 2025-2026 and where the minimum salary will be 20,000 euros with 100% dedication. The former went through a five-year agreement, ending in 2026-2027 and with this development: 16,000; 17,500; 19,000; 19,500 and 20,000 euros.
After the strike call, it is now not excluded that the Women’s League, as we said on Saturday, will present a new proposal. As the scenario has changed a lot since the last meeting after the World Cup, it also has an impact on the Women’s League in terms of sponsorships. Women’s professional soccer has become a great claim after winning the world championship.
Will CSD be like last season?
If the strike call does not come out of the meeting, then it remains to be seen if there will be action from the CSD. Something that is not new as he had to do at the start of last season where the referees called a strike at the start of the league. Strike based on asking for a salary higher than what they used to receive, not being a professional league.
The strike occurred on the first day of the league where the teams did show up but the designated collegiates did not. This is the weekend of September 10 and 11.
It was until Thursday, September 15, when the CSD reached an agreement with the RFEF on the arbitration fee. An agreement of 1,666 euros for the referee, 1,066 for each assistant and 250 for the fourth referee. I received that it later did not match the applied RFEF of 14647 euros which caused the League F complaint but the CSD gave the go-ahead at the end of last June.
This preliminary agreement on September 15 served to stop the strike and the second day of the league was contested.
