the serbian Hamad Medjedovic, 20, won the fifth edition of Movistar’s Rafa Nadal Open this Sunday by defeating Frenchman Harold Mayot in the final in a match that was resolved 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 on the center court of the Mallorcan tennis academy located in Manacor (Mallorca).
Medjedovic, who added his third Challenger circuit title this season, he previously defeated Spaniard Dani Rincón in the semifinals; he also had to overcome Nicolás Mejía, Laurent Lokoli and Mattia Bellucci.
Medjedovic beat Luca Nardi to the tournament recordLucas Lacko, Emil Ruusuvuori and Bernard Tomic, according to tournament organizers in a statement.
“I’m very excited, but I want to thank all of you who came to the whole tournament for your support. It was one of the best weeks of my life. I have to say the academy is amazingand I am very satisfied with my stay, I am glad to have achieved the final victory”, affirmed Medjedovic.
At just 21 years old, finalist Harold Mayot is also dazzled the fans who gathered in Manacor for his explosive tennis and for pulling off tight three-set victories over the likes of Joao Sousa and Nick Hardt.
He also defeated 3 ATP title winner Damir Dzumhur in the semifinals.
