Brazilian footballer Antony, from Manchester United, is being investigated by the Police in his country for allegedly threatening and assaulting a former partner, official sources reported on Monday.
The investigation is being conducted by the 5th Women’s Police Station, which plans to call several witnesses, according to a statement from the São Paulo Civil Police.
Police did not report the tenor of the complaint or the details of the investigation, as the case is under summary secrecy.
However, many Brazilian media outlets have published sections of the conversations of Anthony with an ex-partner, sent by text or recorded via a messaging app, in which the Manchester United striker asks to kill his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.
The accusations
The UOL portal published statements of cavallinwhere he accuses Anthony of attacking him several times in Sao Paulo and in Manchester.
Cavallin said Antony once punched her in the chest, dislodging a silicone prosthesis, forcing her to undergo surgery.
She also recounted that on another occasion he locked her in the house after a fight, during which she was injured, and threatened to kill her.
The Ge portal shows photos of the woman with injuries to her fingers and head after two fights with the footballer of Manchester United and the Brazilian team.
The rejection
Subsequently, Antony posted a message on Instagram in which he assured that the accusations were “false” and maintained that Cavallin “at every moment, whether in testimony or in an interview, presents a different version of accusations. Therefore, I strongly reject the accusations made and report that I remain at the full disposal of the Brazilian authorities to clarify anything necessary.”
Antony plans to arrive this Tuesday in the Brazilian city of Belém to join the concentration of the ‘canarinha’ team for the first two games of qualifying qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
