Acosta and Holgado, who don’t have to make any more mistakes

Date:

Pedro Acosta (Kalex) and Daniel Holgado (KTM) arrive at this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix needing to make no mistakes to consolidate leadership in the provisional world classification of Moto2 and Moto3, respectively.

Acosta, who came to fight for the victory in the race in Catalonia, ended up in sixth position, his worst result since he did not score points in France, so in Misano Adriatico he will try to regain the podium path, if where he did not drop in five consecutive races, those in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Austria.

But “Shark” Acosta will not be easy, because His most direct rival, so far, in the fight for the championship, Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex), is playing at home. and he will certainly seek to make up for the troubles suffered in Catalonia.

Arbolino will not be the only “stone on the road” that Acosta will find, because the British Jake Dixon (Kalex) is becoming stronger and more confident in his chances after the second victory of his sports career, and will be a rival to consider.

Dixon already knows what it’s like to climb to the top of the podiumsomething he seeks to do for the first time in his sports career, Arón Canet (Kalex), second in Catalonia, who for one reason or another has so far been denied the benefits of success.

And not only them, because in this list of candidates for victory or, as a lesser evil, the podium, we must add names like in Alonso López (Boscoscuro), Albert Arenas (Kalex), Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro) and Sergio García Dols (Kalex).

But also the Czech Filip Salac, the Thai Somkiat Chantra, the Italian Celestino Vietti -great winner in Austria-, or the British Sam Lowes, all of them on the Kalex tracks.

Daniel Holgado’s “Catalan adventure” ended worse than Acosta’swho from fighting for victory did not score a single point, which allowed the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) to reduce the gap in the championship by thirteen points and forced the Spaniard to be more effective in this second round in the lands of Italy. .

And that will not be an easy goal, because if there is one category where there are more and more contenders for victory at each grand prix, it is Moto3.

The Colombian of Spanish origin David Alonso (Gas Gas) seems to have taken the “tranquillo” on the top step of the podium and in epic finishes, as his victories in Great Britain and Catalonia prove it and, although he is sixth in the provisional world championship standings, he is counted as one of the great candidates for success.

Daniel Holgado and David Alonso are there, but they’re not the only ones.

Jaume Masiá (Honda) is another of the applicants, along with Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM)the Brazilian Diogo Moreira (KTM), who had a fatal weekend in Catalonia, the Australian Joel Kelso (CFMoto), the Japanese Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda), Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM) or Kaito Toba (KTM), or the Dutch Collin Veijer (CFMoto).

To the long list of applicants with options for all things Moto3, we must add some valid Spanish names, that of Iván Ortolá (KTM), winner of two Grand Prix, José Antonio Rueda (KTM), David Muñoz (KTM), Xavier Artigas (CFMoto) or David Salvador (KTM), among others.
