The F-League The women’s soccer team issued a statement on Wednesday, after its unsuccessful meeting with the unions to try to stop the soccer players’ strike announced for the first two days of the League, in which it explained that “the new meeting in the framework of negotiations of General agreement clearly revealed the complete unwillingness of the unions to reach an agreement that would allow the strike to be unblocked”.
According to the employers, “yesterday, League F, in its strong belief to propose a scenario of peace and stability that will help promote the project, made massive efforts to improve not only the minimum wage, but also offers many measures in terms of maternity, reconciliation of personal, family and work life, and other benefits for soccer players related to their training and professional development”.
“In this sense, it should be noted that Liga F has proposed an offer in which the existing partiality is removed, it will go to a minimum salary of 18,000 euros which will increase until it reaches 25,000 euros in three seasons, assistance for the care of soccer players’ children during their training sessions, specific spaces for breastfeeding or financial aid funds to study, among others”.
“The response from the trade union side has been blunt, showing complete inaction in their economic proposals (25,000 euros for this season and 30,000 euros for the next), without being willing to negotiate their salary requirements, in addition to not assessing the benefits of family reconciliation and training offered”.
“Despite this incomprehensible attitude, Liga F, in response to the request of the unions themselves, took a new step to reach an agreement and presented today a new alternative agreement for one season with a minimum salary of 20,000 euros (that is, an increase of 25% with respect to the current minimum wage) including possibility to reach 23,000 euros based on the commercial benefits generated by competition and sustainability, of course, the suppression of bias, as well as all the improvements in terms of harmony, maternity, lactation and training benefits”.
“The response of the union today is, again, negative. In this way, the irresponsibility and lack of will and the high-mindedness of the unions led clubs and players to a strike that seriously damaged the image of Spanish women’s football at a time when all actors should understand the apparent potential for in growth where all parties can benefit if the common interest of the project prevails over personal interest.”
“In other words: It offered to raise the minimum wage by 25% from 16,000 euros to 20,000 euros, preventing bias. REJECTED.”
“Firm proposals were offered for 3 and 4 years, ending at 25,000 euros. REJECTED,” concluded the statement from League F.
