Athletic are preparing to start the week ahead of their return to competition on Monday after the first competitive break of the 2023-24 League. The set of Valverde was undefeated after this break last season, when the coach returned to complete his third spell on the San Mamés bench.
His team defeated Almería (4-0) after the first FIFA window held on the weekend of September 24 and 25, 2022. The lions also won the previous match against Rayo Vallecano of Andoni Iraola (3-2).
The next break took place at the World Cup in Qatar. The Bilbao team beat Valladolid (3-0) on November 8 before taking a fifteen-day break and drawing with Betis at Benito Villamarín on December 29 (0-0).
The last one happened on March 25 and 26 of this year. Txingurri’s men also drew with Getafe in Bilbao after beating Valladolid in Zorrilla.
