Germany beat France with a great Ter Stegen

Date:

The German team took advantage of the first opportunity they had, against France, to indicate that the team’s problem was Hansi Flick. The Germans won Rudi Voller’s debut (2-1) thanks, in large part, to Ter Stegen at a fantastic level and that halted the momentum of a rival in tow who wanted to equalize and was left wanting.

Didier Deschamps decided to leave Kylian Mbappé on the bench, with discomfort in his knee for several weeks, and he soon saw how his team would pay dearly for that when the moment the ball started to roll, completed by Müller a great combination of Germany’s game (3′), who almost immediately grabbed the second with Gnabry’s boot.

As the minutes passed, the dominance of the game began to be shared between both teams. What’s more, France started to step into Ter Stegen’s place and this is how Kolo Muani protested a more likely penalty from Rüdiger that the referee didn’t see. The PSG striker was surely the first to create danger on the half-hour mark for Deschamps’ side minutes after replacing Gündogan who was injured after a spectacular fall.

France finished the first half better, but without the reward of a goal. Ter Stegen showed this with an excellent save for Tchouaméni, while before the second from Germany arrived he kept out Griezmann’s equaliser. And so, in the face of French despair, Sané’s sentence came after taking advantage of a weak delivery of the ball from his rival (85′).

He dreamed of the possibility of France coming back immediately when Sané himself committed a stupid penalty on Camavinga and, this time, Ter Stegen was beaten by Griezmann (89′). However, the goal came late and there was no time for more.
