Alexander Davidovich was imposed on Soonwoo Kwon through 6-4 and 6-4 to give vain success to Spain over South Koreaon the last day of Group C of the Final Phase of Davis cup which was held in Valencia, where the two teams appeared without knowing the victory and without options to play in the Final Eight of Malaga
Davidovich, who were unable to win any of the four matches they played in this Davis Cup, avenged this victory and added the second point that gives Spain victory over the Asian team.
The match, which started in the first games with good exchanges from the baseline, was even and, beyond the goal to make up for Spain’s result, the lack of competitive tension meant that the South Korean took advantage. Davidovich took the lead for the first time at 3-2, taking advantage of his rival’s loss of serve.
Kwon had moments of disconnection where the Spanish tennis player was solid, patient and smart in controlling the game and knew how to hold on when the South Korean pressed and tried to reveal himself, but his backhand failures prevented to him for putting the Malaga people in trouble. Davidovich played his strongest game to win the first set 6-4.
The second set was quick. Davidovich was comfortable against his rival, who, with two double faults, looked out of the game (3-1). Although Kwon revived and tied the set at four, the Spanish tennis player imposed his hierarchy to match the result of the first set and give Spain the victory.
