Kuss: “I suffered more than Angliru”

Date:

Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma), winner of Come back 2023described the victory of the red jersey in Madrid as “incredible”, but specified that in a theoretical phase of the party he suffered more “than the phase of Angliru”.

“is incredible. I think today was the stage where I suffered the most in the whole race, I’m glad it’s over. I felt that the stage was going to be fast when I saw all the runners preparing to attack. “I suffered more today than in Angliru,” said the American cyclist.

After completing the final stage, he made it clear that the Vuelta title would not change him as a person. “No, I’m not different now that I’ve won the Vuelta, not really. I will continue on my own. This is something that will change your life, for sure. I think I will look back on this experience with many fond memories. I’m still taking it in, I think it will take a while. Today, big celebration,” he said.

Surrounded by his family, “it will be really special to be with all the runners and staff, reminiscing about the stories from these three weeks. Lots of memories and great moments.”

Kuss remembered the Spanish fans, who cheered him on by shouting his name in the stands. “Thank you to the Spanish public for their support, for your love in every mountain, in every corner of Spain. The synergy with the public is what I love about the Vuelta. This year I enjoyed the love of the Spanish fans,” he concluded.
