Medvedev looks bad for Roland Garros after losing on his return

Date:

the russian Daniel Medvedev, 26 years old and world number two, returned to the ATP Tour with a defeat. Frenchman Richard Gasquet broke his return to the clay court tournament in Geneva (Switzerland), before Roland Garros kicked off on Sunday, May 22nd.

Gasquet, 35 years old and nº 75, passed away 6-2 and 7-6 (5) at 1h.29 ‘ to Medvedev, who no longer dives from Miami, who extended his absence from the circuit to two months after surgery for a “small hernia”, as described by the 2021 US Open champion and 2022 Australian Open finalist, who has already passed at world number one a few weeks this season.

The seventh double fault, same number of aces, certainly condemned Medvedev on the first point of Gasquet’s fight. He has already made three consecutive games that caused him a ‘break’ in the second set. He was paid for by one of his rackets, which he broke. He then recovered the deficit to 3-3.

It is not clay, especially its favorite surface, although it has been applied over time, as shown by the fact that it reaches quarters of Roland Garros in 2021, after four consecutive editions without any success.

Paris no longer looks good for Medvedev, who could not go to Wimbledon due to the veto of Russian and Belarusian tennis players as the invasion of Ukraine continues.
