He Japanese Grand Prix It is a rare event in the Formula 1 calendar. In the great Asian country, a passion for motorsport has developed that is hard to find in other regions of the world. It is because of this tradition that some pilots chose to make some special designs of their helmets for the weekend. An example of this is the Fernando Alonso’s new helmet for the Suzuka race.
Asturian has always had a special relationship with Japanese culture. Without walking further, one of his nicknames is ‘Samurai’. And, exactly in that sense, the two-time champion in Spain debuts the helmet for the 15th round of the World Cup. The design is based on a white helmet combined with the colors of black and red, the colors of the Japanese flag.
Besides the usual sponsors, on the side of the helmet there are two colored circles Japan’s symbolic red with the number 14 inside. On the other hand, you can also see silhouettes of traditional black buildings below.

});
Finally outstanding behind is the silhouette of a samurai warrior. The same one that Alonso has tattooed on his neck. Thus, the Asturian broke with the standard design with blue, yellow and red colors.
Verstappen and Ocon, others wearing helmets for the first time
But Alonso isn’t the only one taking the opportunity to change the design of his helmet. The World Cup champion and leader also ditched his usual adornment, to wear a whiter helmet with red accents. Verstappen explained that he was doing this because Japan was “a country that brings back good memories” and was referring to a second championship.

});
Esteban Ocon, who came to Suzuka with a desire to get rid of the thorn of abandonment in Singapore, also chose a helmet inspired by the Japanese flag. A white design with a red circle above.
