Ayoze Perez is the sharpest attacker of Real Betis in last Sunday’s clash against Cádiz, although he found inspiration from Conan Ledesma with the two shots he sent between the sticks – the Cádiz goalkeeper made six saves in total – and three more went slightly off target. Ayoze, then Rodrygo and Lewandowski, is the LaLiga player who has accumulated the most shots in these first six days, 18 in total, although he has only scored one goal. The Tenerife native analyzed the last game against Cádiz with the coach and his teammates and drew his own conclusions.
“We had time to study the game. We saw videos of what we did well and what we didn’t do well. Personally, seeing the team in this video, I left with a different feeling. I think they did enough to take the three points, I think there is no doubt. We know that there are things to correct, there is no doubt. But we created enough to take the three points. We insisted much in the second half, I think it was what was expected after going with an adverse result to the rest. And well, we lacked aim, that’s true. It’s something we can improve. The decision making at the top and it’s something that can be improved. But I think the feeling that the team, playing at home, has done enough to score more goals, I think it’s something positive,” Ayoze told RTV Betis.
Betis is one of the teams that generates the most scoring chances but the least transforms, to date: “I’m sure it will happen. We have to keep trying. In other games maybe we felt that we could have created more opportunities, there were more chances in attack. And in this game we had enough chances to score some goals. There are days when it doesn’t want to go in. We are already doing everything that can be improved so that in the next game that we can try to get the three points.”
Happy with Fekir’s imminent return
Ayoze referred to the upcoming reappearance of Fekir, where he has only shared possession in two games at Real Betis, as in the second the Frenchman suffered serious ligament damage from which he has now recovered. “There is little I can share with him. Nabil’s return is a great joy, very necessary for us. A player of great quality who contributes a lot to us. And I am very happy that he is back in training. We have to be calm for “the type of injury but it’s great to have him back and looking forward to getting back on the field of play.”
