Etienne Vaessen returned home Sunday afternoon after spending the night in the hospital. The RKC goalkeeper was knocked unconscious on Saturday after a heavy collision before the end of the match with the forward of Ajax Brian Brobbeybut according to the forward of RKC Michiel Kramerthe goalkeeper feels better.
“He spent a night in the hospital, where they did tests. Fortunately there was no bleeding, so he looks good. He spent a reasonable night and went home. It’s all positive messages,” Kramer began, then he explained how those moments were experienced on the field of play.
Since Vaessen showed no signs of life, resuscitation was immediately started according to a new protocol. “It’s scary. I hope you never have to experience something like that again. In that moment you’re far away from the world. Our doctor has to put his tongue back in, because he swallowed it. When you see the resuscitation, you’re scared and of course you immediately think of “A cardiac arrest. It was a shock.”
