Javier Aguirre, Mexican coach of Mallorca, was asked this Saturday, at the end of the match played by the island team in their stadium against Valencia, for formula chosen by FIFA for misunderstanding 2030 World Cup.
Let’s remember that the tournament will be held three continents (South America, Europe and Africa) and six countries (Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Spain, Morocco and Portugal). Aguirre is a regular at World Cups, trying to experience them live, in addition to participating, as coach of the Aztec team, in the 2002 and 2010. True to his style, the ‘Basque’ did not disappoint when asked about his opinion on this approach.
“It’s terrible!”he exclaimed at the outset, before adding: “Well, let’s fly, because I always go to the World Cups, I’ve been there for 10 or 12. We’re going to Argentina, we’re going back to Spain, we’re going to Morocco… Shit, I don’t want to.”he said in a low tone.
And he remembered that “in the United States in ’94 you had to play in New York, then you flew to Pasadena, in California… Dear mother! Then, in 2026, the World Cup will come to Mexico, Canada and the United States. The World Cup in two countries seems too much to me, but if it is, I don’t know, Spain and Morocco, but the inauguration there seems to me…”.
