Harry Kane talks about his retirement

Date:

Harry Kane he says he hopes to be in top form for another eight or nine years and says he wants to help England win the Euros on home soil in 2028. England’s leading scorer, who is just a month away from turning 35 when Euro 2028 begins, it says it will be a “dream come true” to win the tournament after losing the 2020 final to Italy at Wembley.

“The perception in sport or football is that you get to 30 and people start to think it’s the end,” the Bayern Munich striker said after the United Kingdom and Ireland were named hosts of the European Championship.

“But from my point of view I have almost reached the second half of my career. I have spent nine or ten years at the highest level and I hope for another eight or nine years. Recovery, sports science and form how the game has been adapted has allowed players to play longer,” added Kane, who turned 30 in July.

Kane cited Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as examples of players still playing at the highest level in their thirties (36). “When you look at a lot of high-level players like Ronaldo, Messi, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic… they have almost improved compared to 30,” he added. “Maybe everything is settled in your personal life, family life, with your children. You are comfortable in your body and mind, where you are and that allows you to focus on football.”
