The Premier League will set this Sunday, on the occasion of the final day, a historic record since it began playing in 1992. For the first time in a season, 15 million spectators will pass through the stadiums, according to data from the agency in sports marketing Two Circles.
A hurdle that is expected to be overcome on this decisive day and will exceed the 14,600,000 fans who attended the campaign matches in 2018-19, the last unaffected by Covid-19. The pandemic paralyzed public attendance in the second round of the 2019-20 Premier and throughout the next season.
Despite the penalties against Chelsea
A return to normalcy will make possible a record majority of this despite sanctions that have affected Chelsea since the UK government in March prevented the London club from selling more tickets for home games within the measures imposed on its still owner Roman Abramovich after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The average attendance of Stamford Bridge fans in Chelsea’s last five games has been 32,200 compared to the average of 39,900 the rest of the season.
The revenue is almost a billion
Two Circles data shows that clubs earned £ 821.6m (€ 969m) in ticket and hospitality sales during the season, equivalent to £ 2.2m (€ 2.6m). euros) per home match in the Premier League.
Anfield is almost full
The average public influx reached 96.1% of the stadiums. The mythical Anfield, the scene of LIverpool matches, tops this list with 99.2%, as its stands have almost been filled in all Premier matches.
