With the new rethinking applied to the approved license, a series of improvements have been deepened that will have a direct positive impact on the environment and the aim is to reduce the Club’s carbon footprint, promote the circular economy and enhance the area’s biodiversity . . Among these improvements, the commitment to promoting sustainable mobility stands out, as the Club is making its temporary move to Montjuïc, facilitating access to the Stadium by public transport and favoring electric mobility, including designated spaces for bicycles.
Along the same lines, energy savings and efficiency will also be promoted with the installation of 18,000 m2 of photovoltaic panels on the new roof, to generate the electricity needed for lighting on match days and up to what the equivalent of about 600 homes. and, on the other hand, the use of green energy stored underground will be explored to reduce heating and cooling consumption. Also, a geothermal system and a global distribution of heat and cold (District Heating & Cooling) will be installed, which will reduce the contracted energy by 30%, reusing the rainwater collected from the roof, an improvement that will allow watering 10 times a year all the plants of the future campus. In relation to biodiversity, the native fauna is currently protected and the tree mass of the enclosure will increase by more than 15%.
In the field of technology, the future Spotify Camp Nou will include the latest technologies. Vehicle security and access control systems will also be improved and maximum performance will be made of the possibilities that 5G connectivity will offer.
