The qualifying match for Euro 2024 between Kosovo and Israel, scheduled for next Sunday, was suspended because the Israeli government did not allow the movement of its team abroad due to the conflict in the war with Hamas, as announced today by UEFA.
The new date of the match, which will be held in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, will be announced “in due course”, according to UEFA. The Israeli team occupies third place in Group I with six rounds played, one point behind Romania and three behind the leader, Switzerland. The first two will qualify directly for the Euro 2024 Championship in Germany.
UEFA announced last Sunday the postponement of Israel-Switzerland, which was scheduled for today, and on Tuesday announced that the match will be played on November 15 at a venue to be determined.
Israel has been in a state of war since last Saturday after an incursion from Gaza by armed Hamas militiamen attacked several towns near the strip. So far, 1,300 deaths have been recorded in Israeli territory, according to medical sources cited today by the local press. The number of injured hospitalized in the country is 3,268.
Bombings by the Israeli Armed Forces caused at least 1,200 deaths in Gaza and 5,700 injuries of varying degrees, the Gaza Ministry of Health reported.
