Hubert Hurkacz, number 17 in world tennis, secured the first of two spots in the final of the Shanghai Mastersby defeating the American Sebastian Korda, who is located in the 26th position in the ATP ranking.
The Pole dispatched Korda in just 1 hour and 17 minutesfinally winning in two sets, 6-3 and 6-4.

The match also served to unbalance the history of confrontations between the two in favor of Hurkacz. tennis players, who have so far met twice, with a victory for each.
Hurkacz will face the winner of the other semifinal this Sunday in the final duel for the titlebetween Russian Andrey Rublev, the only top 10 player still alive in the competition, and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, executioner in the round of 16 of Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, number two in world tennis.
None of the players who reached the semi-final had won this competition before.thus the Shanghai tournament, in the Masters 1,000 category and played on hard courts, will register an unprecedented win in its first edition since 2019.
It should be noted that the current Masters champion, the Russian Daniil Medvedev, was definitely eliminated by Korda – son of the Czech Petr Korda, who was number 2 in the international ranking in the late 90s – in the third round of the competition.
