Jon Barrenetxea joins the Movistar Team for the next two seasons. The young talent, after three years at Caja Rural – Seguros RGA, is the fourth Spanish signing for next year, after Carlos Canal, Javier Romo and Pelayo Sánchez.
The Movistar Team once again showed that it is committed to the young talent of our country. Jon Barrenetxea won the Mountain race in Itzulia and finished third in Boucles de l’Aulne. He also showed a good level in some international matches like Alentejo or Mayenne.
That is why the good year of the Biscayan cyclist led him to be called to the Spanish team for the full European Championship in Drenthe. “This 2023 helped me confirm that I can have a good journey in the professional fieldsomething you always doubt when you jump,” stressed Barrenetxea.
The 23-year-old and 1.90 tall has joined the Movistar Team until 2025 with the aim of taking another step in his career and showing all the talent he possesses. At Caja Rural there has been a more than apparent evolution which allowed him to shine among the best and become a novelty in the call of the Spanish team.
