Nice, the only undefeated team in Ligue 1, became the provisional leader by beating Marseille at the Allianz Riviera (1-0), while Monaco, which dropped to third place, completed its match against Metz in ninth day.
The rivalry on the benches between the Italian coaches fell on the local side. Francesco Farioli won the game against Gennaro Gattusso who did not delay Marseille’s improvement which could be seen in the last match, before the break.
The match, though, became uneven in the final stretch. It was conditioned by the dismissal, twelve minutes from the end, of Leonardo Balerdi for a double yellow card. The guests were left with ten men.
Two minutes later, Nice’s goal came from a free kick taken by JeremieBoga that Evann Guessand into the net to end the match and put Nice in the lead, a point ahead of second-placed Paris Saint Germain. and two in Monaco. Marseille, however, is seventh, outside the European zone.
