The British Cameron Norry, Top seed, he stopped the reaction of young Dane Holger Rune in time and won three sets (6-2, 5-7 and 6-4) to meet Slovakian Alex Molcan in the final of the Lyon tournament, which he contested for second next year.

Norrie, the eleventh player in the world, will play his third final on clay. He hasn’t won yet. He lost two more, both in 2021. In Estoril against Spanish Albert Ramos and one in the same tournament against Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Briton is aiming for his fourth title, the second this year after Delray Beach and the first on clay. It took two hours to resolve the duel with young Dane, one of the sensations of the season, who a few weeks ago opened his record with success in Munich.

After successfully winning the first set and having a second set on the track (3-1 and 4-2), Rune reacted and got four consecutive games to get back and score the sleeve and level the battle. It was in the third half when Norrie regained the pulse of the duel and, after breaking in the ninth set, closed out the win.

Norrie will face Slovakian Alex Molcan for the title, who beat Australian Alex de Miñaur, fourth seed, 7-6 (2) and 6-2, in an hour and 47 minutes.

It will be the third final in the player’s career from Presov, who have lost the previous two, both on clay. In Belgrade last year and this year in Marrakech.
