Iker Lecuona is one of the riders being talked about for a return to MotoGP depending on what HRC finally decides to replace Marc Márquez at Repsol Honda. But with this renewal, the speculation ended and the Valencian driver himself celebrated with the peace of mind that his immediate future was closed.

“It’s good that everything is clear on the contractual aspect because we must focus on the work ahead of us. I want to fight at the front and succeed, something HRC always strives for in the field of racing, but we must work hard to reach that level, so after the last round of the 2023 championship we will focus all our attention on the tests . We are starting to prepare for the new season, with the aim of making a continuous step forward in terms of performance and results,” explained Iker Lecuona, who this year competed in five MotoGP Grands Prix, covering the injuries of Joan Mir and Marc Márquez on Repsol Honda and Alex Rins on LCR Honda.

For his part, Xavi Vierge explained that “I am happy to have renewed my contract with the HRC team for two more years. Every driver’s dream is to be part of an official HRC team and my feelings have only grown since my first day with the team. It is a source of motivation to continue together, because I believe in the project, myself and my team. Together we will achieve our goal, to try to fight for the championship as soon as possible. And so we will continue to work as hard as possible to get there.”

Tetsuhiro Kuwata, manager of the Race Operations Management Division at HRC, said: “In almost two years of collaboration, we have studied Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge in all aspects and, therefore, we are happy to announce that both will continue. to be official HRC riders for the next two years. Xavi and Iker are two young, fast and competitive riders, always ready to face every challenge with positivism, dedication and team spirit. These are values we fully share because they are “the ones that allow us to strive and thrive in the competitive world of racing. Good job to our drivers and our technicians both for the end of the 2023 season and for the years to come.”
