Verstappen, investigated at the Mexican F1 GP along with many other drivers

Date:

Work is piling up for Mexican F1 GP stewards. After the qualifying session this Saturday, the stewards have many pending investigations to resolve. Among them, one is related to Max Verstappen.

The massive track improvements experienced in the qualifying session and the increased parity between the F1 teams meant there were moments of intense tension in the pit lane, as was the case in Austin a week ago. All drivers want to go out for their final attempt as late as possible in each session. That caused a lot of traffic on the track and especially in the pit lane in Q1. There, Max Verstappen took an action that could have earned him a penalty.

The Dutchman stood in the middle of the pit lane exit waiting for his moment to exit the track, blocking the many cars behind him. The stewards also announced an investigation into George Russell and Fernando Alonso for the same reason.

Verstappen finished 3rd in qualifying and we will have to wait to see if the Dutchman maintains this position on the starting grid of the F1 Mexican GP this Sunday.

Apart from these three investigations, investigations were also announced against Hamilton for not slowing down in the first sector under the yellow flag at the end of Q1, where Alonso spun. Sargeant and Tsunoda will also be investigated for overtaking under a yellow flag, as well as Russell, Norris and Zhou for not complying with the maximum established lap time.
