Eibar regained the lead of LaLiga SmartBank by beating Tenerife 2-0 but they are not yet the First team to win Valladolid in Ibiza.
Match started at a great pace of play. The two teams printed very fast in the early stages of the clash. Eibar tried to take the initiative, but Tenerife did not lose face in the opening minutes.
The islanders played comfortably, but in the 12th minute Fran Sol tested the visitors ’defense with a shot that hit a chicharrero player. In the next play, Sergio Álvarez led it to the crossbar. Gunsmiths warned of their intentions, knowing that Valladolid was ahead of the first exchange in Ibiza and the position of direct promotion was in jeopardy.
Expósito linked a volley shot in the 16th minute that was well saved by Juan Soriano. In the 19th minute Stoichkov invented an impossible autopass, after a great individual game and put the ball in the corner that Soriano could not reach. He put Eibar well ahead and recorded his twenty-first goal of the season, which briefly placed him as the lone top scorer.
Mario González in the next minute had in his boots the possibility to equalize in a good guest game and immediately after a Mollejo shot was deflected by Correa and Cantero had to forcibly send it into a corner.
Eibar reacted and in the 24th minute Stoichkov again created a good chance of danger, putting Tenerife on alert. In the 28th minute Fran Sol was sentenced, but Juan Soriano placed a providential hand that sent the ball into the corner kick. A direct kick by Sielva in the first half, from a foul, once again allowed Soriano to shine with another good save.
Eibar wanted to solve it on the fast track and Corpas tried in the 37th minute to surprise with a shot from distance that increased. Blacksmiths sometimes dominated, but Tenerife did not allow the blacksmiths to get away.
So in the 42nd minute Mario got the best for his team with a shot two meters from the goal he sent very high when he was in an unbeatable position. At halftime stroke Sielva left the field due to injury and had to be replaced by Atienza.
The second half started strong for Eibar with Corpas playing to assist Fran Sol, who sent the ball into the goal at point-blank range and Soriano again saved in a great way. Tenerife are still in the game thanks to its goalkeeper. In the 50th minute, a defensive error by Tenerife ended the ball in the boots of Expósito who, without a mark, threw the ball very badly on a new opportunity in the armory.
Tenerife in the attack seemed harmless and time was running out in favor of Eibar. In the 60th minute, a ball from Corpas once again stopped Soriano, who became the real hero of the game. A minute later he rescued it again after a shot from the Expósito. Eibar was very forgiving.
Mario’s header for Tenerife came first in the second half in the 65th minute. Also with a header, Venancio tried Soriano, who sent his shot into a corner kick,
Shortly after a double chance in an Expósito shot Soriano stopped and the rejection reached Corpas who crossed it too much.
In the 84th minute, a free kick by Expósito brought the ball to Chema Rodriguez, who put his foot to score a second local goal. In the final minutes Aitor Sanz tried to close the gap with a long shot, but it was too late. The direct ascent is therefore pending for the last day.
